Katherine Chaudhri

After completing a Master’s degree in American History, and several years teaching in Missouri, Ms. Chaudhri accepted a position at Bahrain International School where she taught International Baccalaureate Higher and Subsidiary American History.

Around twenty years ago, she learned of the discovery of letters written by a Union soldier in the Civil War. Later research discovered that letters written to him by his wife were held by a descendant. After receiving copies of both, she decided that integrating them with documented Civil War history would create a fascinating narrative that would engage many who lack understanding of that time. Women, especially, are often ignored in history that features battles and generals.  Hardtack and Heartbreak: A Family in the Civil War, tells a true story that brings issues of that time to life.
